Candy: Digital Drawing (Procreate) by Chloe Kim. Design, illustration, and text all by Chloe Kim, 2025.

“FD&C Blue No. 1, the dye that turns your tongue blue after drinking Gatorade or your favorite candy, might help to reduce nerve inflammation. Treated rats moved faster than untreated rats in studies done on rats, likely due to the dye reversing nerve damage and being able to cross the blood-brain barrier. This dye has been determined to be safe since 1969, and approved by the FDA. This dye has the potential for low-cost treatment and might further drive the shift with other substances used daily in our everyday foods and drinks.” – Chloe Kim, 2025.
